After
consulting with local residents, a massive programme of improvements to the
Brooks Estate was launched. The project
has transformed the local area and created a cleaner, greener and safer
environment for residents.
The
project involved the demolition of some unpopular tower blocks, the building of
new homes and refurbishing others. The
remaining tower blocks were also improved helping to create a better atmosphere
and safer streets. To combat anti-social behaviour further, alleyways were
closed and gated.
