Alex Taylor won the jury prize for his film 'Kids Might Fly' about the realities of homelessness in London. This touching portrait of a young girl that is taken into care after her time on the streets was made possible by the New Pathways Film Funding scheme which is partially funded by Newham Council.

The award was presented to Alex by the renowned film maker Gurinder Chandra and Labour Councillor Jo Corbett with a cheque for £2000  at BAFTA in Piccadilly on 6th of July. It is events like this that allows the discovering of grass root talent in an area where people wouldn't normally have the opportunity to get a foot in the door of the film industry. New Pathways 2010 is open for submission to give more film makers the chance to see their films made.
