Alec has been a Councillor in Newham since 1987 and he has represented Beckton ward since 2002.
Alec's family are third generation residents of Newham. He grew up in Manor Park and was educated locally. Alec then went on to get a degree from Oxford and subsequently an MBA and PhD. His professional work as an Economist and Market Research involves commissioning original fieldwork into consumer attitues and personal finance.
He has lived in Beckton since 1984 and has served as a School Governor for over 25 years - he is currently on the Board of Governors at Gallions Primary School and Kingsford Secondary School.
Alec is currently the Chair of the Investment & Accounts Committee and he is the Executive member for Business and Skills.
Alec in an Anglican Lay Reader at St Mark's Church on Tollgate Road. He is also a keen amateur musician and he enjoys cooking.
