Ayesha has been a Councillor in Beckton ward since 2002.
She moved to Beckton in 1993 with her parents. Besides her studies, she worked with local young people. She enjoyed this work and went on to gain a higher degree from Goldsmiths College and a wide range of employment experience in various fields.
Ayesha feels that her main role as a Councillor is to listen to and act on behalf of her constituents. She has been a School Governor for over 14 years. Currently she is serving on the Governing body of Gallions Primary School and Kingsford Community School.
Over the past few years Ayesha has worked with her ward colleagues and our Labour Mayor Robin Wales to help residents resolve parking issues, worked to get cleaner, safer streets and she has helped improve community facilities and activities for Beckton residents.
Ayesha is married with two children (Babu 12 and Tahir 7). She helps run a family business. In her free time she likes cooking and watching and playing football - she is the Chair person of Newham Women United.
