Firoza Nekiwala
firoza.nekiwala@newham.gov.uk

Firoza was elected as a Labour Councillor for East Ham North ward at the 2010 local elections.

She is inspired by the fact that politics in Newham means helping people to change their lives. She believes that what makes Newham even more special are the values and opinions of all being considered despite their race, religion or colour.

Firoza wants to act as a voice for the local community. She believes that her faith empowers her to understand human needs and she wants to help and represent all people regardless of their race, religion or colour. Education and women’s cause is very close to her heart and as a UK born citizen, living, educated and an active member in Newham she has a lot to offer. Firoza feels that she can make a real difference to her community as she is committed to fairness, sympathetic towards the less advantage and ethnic minorities and she wants to put these values into practice.

She believes that Newham is currently going through a huge change. This is an exciting time, with the biggest regeneration projects in Europe, Olympics in 2012 and other challenges facing residents due to the global economic crises. Therefore, her strong bond with the neighbourhood will help her to deliver successfully for the local community by working with her Labour colleagues and residents.
