Paul has been a Labour Councillor in Newham since 1998 and he has represented Forest Gate North ward since 2002.
Since becoming a Councillor Paul has held a number of positions within the Council. Since 2006 he has been the Executive Member for the Olympics. This role involves working with the Mayor on planning for the Olympics and the regeneration benefits it will deliver for Newham.
Paul was born in the borough. He originally trained as a Molecular Biologist and and was Professor
of Molecular Haematology at the Institute of Child Health, Great
Ormond Street Hospital, during which time I established a highly
successful interdisciplinary cancer research department. He then took his career in a different direction and became Director of Regeneration and then Chief Executive of the Bromley by Bow Centre. He is currently Chief Executive of Leaside Regeneration Limited.
