I
have lived in Newham for over 20 years. I've enjoyed living here and now
I want to put something back into our local community.
If elected, I will support the good things already happening in the area
and work to keep improving the area.
My day job is as a housing officer on a large estate. Housing is a key
issue in the ward. I've worked in front line housing management,
enforcement and housing advice - for the public and the private sector. I have
dealt with serious issues such as taking action against rip off private
landlords, helping victims of domestic violence, evicting drug dealers,
prosecuting fly tippers and helping to resolve neighbour disputes.
I have worked in the past for a local authority so I have some idea of how
Councils actually work and how to get things done.
As an active member of my trade union UNISON I have a lot of experience
interviewing and representing members in meetings, hearings and
negotiations. Which I think will help me be an effective advocate on your
behalf.
I am a keen runner and I have completed the London marathon and several half
marathons.
I'm married to Gill who was born and brought up in East London and who now
works as a local Nursery nurse. We both enjoy walking in Epping Forest,
the Chilterns and the North Downs.
