Ellie Robinson and David Christie (Youth and Student Officer for West Ham and East Ham respectively) met in December ’08 with a group of young people to discuss the creation of a Newham Young Labour group.

On the 29th January we held our launch event with David Lammy MP. Over 50 young people from across the borough attended, two joined the party and over 40 left contact details.

Since then we have held a successful new voters event a Westminster, with over 100 young people and a dozen ministers. We have facilitated a workshop on youth engagement in politics at Community Links youth conference. On May 20th we invited Stephen Timms MP, and held a very interesting and interactive discussion with him and 20 young people.
